![]() ![]() Education is one of the OSF’s most important roles in the art world. Today, Art School has successfully taught young artists as to how to express their inspirations through various art forms but failed to guide them in how to live as an artist. This is a much more important concept than learning the techniques of art. Upon graduation, the moral and ethical issues these neophytes face is one of problem-solving on a mundane, day to day basis, grinding it out, as it were. “What kind of message the artists could give the audience,” for instance. OSF delivers artistic lectures to art students struggling with their future and often suggests right course of action in terms of artistic ambition. ![]() Klavier Music School in Englewood Cliff and New York based non-profit Jazz-art organization OSF Inc. proudly present a new music education program to help develop creative thinking and Social Skills for youth and young/adult.
‘Say Bop™’ has been designed to enhance students’ creative thinking through Jazz and Classic music studies. Learning how to improvise music is the best way to develop creativity that also helps to build social skills when playing ‘together’. Recent studies show that learning improvisational skill develops students’ creative thinking process that consequentially helps them also to study and concentrate. Recently, Music Education Program at the Teachers College, Columbia University, has launched Kids Jazz program in partnership with Jazz at the Lincoln Center led by Musical director, Winton Marsalis. Say Bop™ includes both classic piano studies and jazz improvisational studies. Therefore, this unique music program helps students to enhance their musicality in both technique and creativity. Why ‘Say Bop™’ is a unique program. Unlike other music programs, Say Bop™ contains classic piano, rhythm and jazz studies all combined to induce further learning not only of jazz but also in classics based on enhanced piano skills for greater musical expression. In addition, Rhythm class helps students to understand ‘swing’ as it helps to develop ‘Forward thinking’. Who need this program? Students who understand the need of a unique college portfolio undergirded by robust classic performance. Students who need to develop creative thinking Students who had taken music lesson for a while but never been improved. We accept various age groups and all curriculums are custom designed for each age group. How Classic and Jazz works together. Jazz is all about creating melody (solo improvisation) in real time while adding rhythmic aspect in it. When students fully understand a classic piece, they realize that all beautiful melody lines come from classic music, which serves as a wonderful source for jazz improvisation. Say Bop™ especially focuses on classic composers such as Mozart, Chopin, and Bach etc. analyzes its ‘counter point’ in order to appreciate Bebop lines. From Bach to Charlie Parker is the main idea of understanding Say Bop™. Jazz is ‘an Oral tradition’. Unlike classical music, jazz is improvised music engendered from oral tradition. It simply means that it’s open to everybody. (No instrument skills needed) If a particular student has not been improving musically after numerous lessons, it may be due to the level of difficulty. Say Bop™ is ‘Stress free music environment’ as the student will enjoy the approach to music given variety of chorus lines to sing and hum to as well as hand drumming. ‘Music comes to people.’ Can other instruments be part of this program? If a student wants to choose an instrument rather than piano, this program also helps to develop a broad range of music learning as fundamental. After prerequisite proficiency test, students could learn progressively from their preferred instrument. The transition and the flexibility built-in work better with Say Bop™. *The Proficiency Exam score determines student eligibility for advancement.
