One Soul Fellowship, a New York based multi-ethnic jazz group, firmly believes that music provides a new found meaning of life to ordinary people. Since 2005, OSF has performed in jazz clubs and churches all over the U.S. and Asia. In 2007, OSF released a debut album, ‘A New Creation’, in Asia and successfully toured through Japan and Korea. The English Edition of its debut album was released in the U.S. on August 5th, 2008. Due to OSF’s unique style of combining Jazz with other musical forms such as hip hop and classic, various age groups can enjoy OSF’s exciting performance. Recently, OSF has finished its 2nd Album, ‘Interactive’; featuring today’s most prominent jazz pianist, Jason Moran (Blue Note Label), Latin Billboard Award finalist, vocalist Marta Gomez and Grammy Award winner multi-instrumentalist, Scott Robinson (Maria Schneider Orchestra). ‘A New Creation,’ a debut album, was released on May, 2007. In this album, One Soul Fellowship suggests an ideal model of futuristic jazz group that is heavily based on New York’s authentic and rough instrumental sound. Interaction between the performers and the audience is the key aspect of OSF’s musical goal which ‘A New Creation’ undeniably accomplished. 2009 ‘Interactive’ “Music just flows anywhere it goes. Jazz interacts and encompasses all aspects of life such as ethnic/cultural background, narratives of endless spectrum, its tears and sorrow, joy and happiness, including classical or hip-hop.”

The album contains 12 beautiful creations. Because OSF’s musical goal is to provide musical experience for everyone, this album has something for all ages, gender, and race. The album combines Jason Moran’s powerful and raw piano sounds, Marta Gomez’s sweet Spanish singing and lyrics, and Scott Robinson’s authentic alto clarinet and tenor saxophone sound. OSF’s perfect ensemble with J.D.’s groove rap, and even the classical string quartet with the subway dialogue allows OSF to expand the realm of jazz. |
